Yes, Zelman Meats is focused firmly on a celebration of all things steak, but that doesn’t mean the drinks get overlooked - far from it. The cocktail menu is a who’s who of classics given a unique twist, along with some great-tasting alcohol free mocktails. You’ll be shaken and stirred…
Cocktails near Mayfair
What’s your poison? Old Fashioned, Martini, Mojito, Mule?
Zelman’s cocktail list has all those and more, but expect something a little different from the norm.
Let’s start with the really good stuff; the Old Fashioned is subtitled ‘To The Bone’ because it uses Beef Fat Washed Buffalo Trace Whiskey alongside Malbec syrup and celery bitters for an incredible hit of flavours.
Like tequila? Then you’ll love the Smoky Margarita - Corazon Blanco Tequila, Monte Alban Mezcal, agave, lime juice, apple juice and Spicy Rib Rub; or how about the Zelman Mojito 2.0 - Pampero Blanco Rum, Framboise, raspberry, chilli, lime Juice and mint. An amazing combination of flavours.
There’s a Tropical Manhattan, Pornstar Martini, Zelman Daiquiri, Pina Colada and the intriguingly named Rapple - Malibu Rum, Cloudy Apple Juice, Raspberry.
Not drinking? No worries - Zelman Mocktails pack a punch of flavour, from the Virgin Pina Colada to the Mango & Raspberry Lemonade; the Virgin Mojito to Red Passion - grenadine, lemon, elderflower and lemonade.
Steak your claim
So you know their cocktails at Zelman - but what about the food and in particular the meat?
Rest assured that as much care and attention goes into both food and drink menus; from starters such as Lobster Croquettes, King Prawn Tempura and Beef Carpaccio, you’re in for a treat.
Zelman Meats is so called because it’s all based around a group of crazy meat eaters sharing their passion and knowledge for great cuts of steak.
There are four main cuts, including two classic Canadian steaks, both grain-finished Angus beef from the prairies in Alberta. There’s Picanha - which was first popularised in Brazil (sometimes it’s called rump cap), which is wonderfully tender; if you like a little more marbling fat for a fuller flavour, then ask for the Rib-eye.
Striploin from Brazil is a juicy cut of grain-finished Black Angus beef, while the Holstein grass-fed Fillet from Poland is the softest, most tender cut of beef you’ll ever experience.
There are also incredible Short Ribs - USDA, slow cooked with BBQ sauce. Amazing.
Can’t decide on a steak? In that case, the Zelman Plate is what you’re looking for, a cut of each to share (minimum two people).
The incredible experience doesn’t end there, though - there are sides and sauces to choose from - sriracha mayo, chimichurri, peppercorn or BBQ; charred hispi cabbage, triple-cooked chips, black truffle and parmesan chips, superfood salad and roasted heirloom carrots.
Have we convinced you? It shouldn’t have taken much… now all you need to do is find Zelman Meats, which is not hard, you’ll be glad to hear.
Head for the junction of Sloane Street - Zelman Meats is on the fifth floor of the Harvey Nichols building. By Tube, Knightsbridge station is just a two minutes’ walk away, and Hyde Park Corner is only a five-minute stroll. There are also plenty of buses that pass by the front door - visit the London Buses website for more information.
Looking for something to do on either side of your visit? The wide open spaces of Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens are just across the road; if you’re sightseeing then Buckingham Palace and Westminster Cathedral are close by, as is Mayfair, with the likes of Savile Row and Fortnum & Mason to explore.
